a frustrating night: I feel "pretty awful"
I came into the race at Huddinge Skidklubb hoping for a top-three finish, but the run was over almost before it had begun.
At the fourth gate, I made a mistake that cost me everything. The course was wide, and I needed to release a little later than I’m used to. Instead, I blocked the gate and released too early. My left ski hit the gate, and the impact dismounted my boot.
It was incredibly frustrating. In a sport like slalom, one small mistake is enough.
But I didn’t want to leave it there. I got up, put my skis back on, climbed back up, and finished the run anyway.
It was not the result I wanted, but sometimes finishing after a setback says just as much as the race itself.
Here’s an even more blog-like version, if you want it warmer and less formal:
Not the result I wanted, but I finished
I had hoped for a top-three result at the slalom race with Huddinge Skidklubb, but it ended early at the fourth gate.
The course was wider than I expected, and I needed to release a bit later. I went with my usual timing, hit the gate with my left ski, and my boot came off. It was super frustrating.
For a moment, it felt like everything was ruined.
But instead of giving up, I stood up, put my skis back on, climbed up, and kept going. It was not the race I had imagined, but I still wanted to finish.
Sometimes that is what you take with you most — not the result, but the decision to continue.
